Radio Journalism isn't all about hard news and breaking the story first. In this one day workshop, Husain Husaini of Wire Free, and David Prest of Whistledown will convince you that sound journalistic principles should be a part of every programme maker's approach to radio production.
Telling the story straight, getting it right, being fair to all parties and still trying to push the boundaries isn't always easy and, occasionally, things can go badly wrong. We'll cover principles of good practice, de-construct BBC Editorial Guidelines, give a user's guide to impartiality, libel and fair dealing, and advice on how to get out of a hole once you've fallen in it. We'll also cover new and recent case studies, talk about the current journalistic environment and entertain with tales of daring do.
Who's it aimed at? - feature makers, producers, reporters, researchers (freelance or staff). The course will be designed as a good refresher for those already in the industry, but will also be inspirational for those wanting to break into it, or make a career change.
Intros and welcome.
